The Noni or Indian Mulberry has two main functions in TCM. It mainly warms and treats a yang deficiency in the kidney which are the main reasons for sexual impotence or infertility.  Secondly, Noni takes all the cold from your bones and muscles, warming them gently to treat knee pains such as rheumatism or arthritis. Many TCM practitioners recommend using the Noni in combination with a Ginseng supplement to increase the effectiveness.

History of Noni
Polynesians and Chinese are believed to have made medicinal use of Noni for over 2,000 years. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, all parts of the plant are used: leaves, roots, bark, flowers, and fruits. About forty traditional remedies have been identified that contain one or another of the plant’s parts.

External uses mainly include the treatment of wounds, sores, and inflammation.

Internal uses are very varied: rheumatism, arthritis, menstrual disorders, sore throat, diarrhea, cancer, stimulation of the immune system, bacterial, viral, parasitic or fungal infections, etc.

Even though the ripe fruits of Noni give off an unpleasant smell, several explorers reported that the Chinese consumed them, especially in famine times.

Contraindications
Pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although no adverse effects have been reported with regard to the use of Noni during pregnancy or breastfeeding, some sources suggest that pregnant and breastfeeding women should refrain from using Noni. Traditionally, Chinese women drank noni juice to regain their strength after childbirth, thus during the breastfeeding period. On the other hand, the leaves and the fruit have already been traditionally used to induce menstruation as well as for their abortive effect.
