If you are craving a juicy burger, you came to the right place. This is the best homemade hamburger recipe you can find, and also very easy to make. But before we start, there are a few things you should know in order to get perfect results.
Although it might seem straightforward, cooking the best homemade hamburger has some secrets. As you can imagine, the most important part of the burger is the meat. First of all, you need to make sure that you use good quality ground beef that is 80% lean and 20% fat. The ration really matters so you do not end up with a dry patty.
Secondly, the meat should not be squeezed during preparation or cooking. This will make the juices go out and the patty will become dry.
Thirdly, for ultimate food experience, we suggest making your own homemade brioche buns.
Keeping those two secrets in mind, you will be able to enjoy the best homemade hamburger you ever had.
For the burgers
- 4 thin slices of bacon
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 800 grams of ground beef
- 1 big onion
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- olive oil
- 4 homemade brioche burger buns
- 30 grams of mayonnaise
- 30 grams of mustard
- 30 grams of ketchup
- baby spinach
- 8 cucumber pickles
For the burgers
Start by preparing the bacon in a frying pan. You need to cook the bacon in low heat until it becomes crunchy. Alternatively, you can put the bacon slices in the oven at 190 Celsius for 25-30 minutes.
Now, place the ground meat in a bowl and sprinkle the onion and garlic powder. You can use as much as you like.
Mix the spices with your hands, but be very gentle as we do not want to pressure the meat a lot. Once that is done, divide the meat into 4 equal pieces and shape them into patties, again as gentle as possible.
Sprinkle salt and pepper (as desired) on both sides, and use cling film to wrap the patties.
Place the patties in the fridge for at least 2 hours. (If you are in a hurry you can skip this step and use the meat directly)
As soon as the bacon is done, remove it from the pan but do not discard the fat juices. We will use the juices to fry our patties so they become tastier.
Now, add the patties to the pan and drizzle a bit of olive oil. Cook them to your preference, but do not squeeze them.
Once the first side is done, flip the burgers over and place 1 slice of cheddar cheese and 1 slice of bacon over each burger.
The cheese will start to melt nicely, and the burgers should be done soon enough. When the burgers are done, remove them from the pan and set them aside.
Use some paper towels to wipe the pan and drizzle a small amount of olive oil again. Cut the homemade brioche buns in half and press them down (gently) in order to get that nice crispiness.
Place the brioche bun on a plate and add 7.5 grams of mayo and 7.5 grams of ketchup, this is 1 and 1/2 tsp each.
Put a few leaves of baby spinach (washed) on top.
Cut the big onion into rings and place 1 ring over the baby spinach.
Now put the patty on top and finish with 2 pieces of cucumber pickles.
You can serve with french fries, 1 tsp of mustard and 1 tsp of mayonnaise on the side.
- You can prepare the patties beforehand and place them in the fridge.
- By placing the patties in the fridge for at least 2 hours we will make sure that we will have a nice, juicy burger.
- In case you cook the bacon in the oven, gather the juice and place it in the pan to fry your patties.
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese with another cheese of your liking that melts well.
- You can substitute the baby spinach with lettuce if you prefer.
